Hi. I undid your revert at LAMS, because Wikipedia style is that external links are usually to be placed in a dedicated section, entitled (surprisingly enough) "External links." See WP:LINKS: "External links should not normally be visible in the body of an article, except for embedded citations; this applies to list articles as well. Instead, include appropriate external links in an "External links" section at the end and/or in the appropriate location within an infobox or navbox."

Also, I note from your user name that it is most likely that you are connected in some way to the organization that is the subject of the article you are editing. Please see WP:COI. --jbmurray (talkcontribs) 19:24, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi. No problem with the revert - I wasn't familiar with the External links policy until you pointed it out.

The LAMS Foundation makes the LAMS software freely available as open source software for the public good of education. The LAMS Wikipedia page and content was created by an independent third party, but based on text taken from various LAMS webpages, hence the tone. I'm happy to see it refined to suit Wikipedia conventions, but I wouldn't recommend deleting the whole entry, as there is a large community of people who use (or are interested in) the LAMS software, so a Wikipedia entry is useful for them. I've reviewed COI, and am happy to help refine the text of this article, but would like to do this in a way that doesn't raise your concerns - so would appreciate your advice. Hi (again). I'm not suggesting the article's deletion. And WP:COI doesn't mean that you should have no input, just that you should be careful. It would certainly be good were this article to have third-party sources. See WP:SOURCES and, on self-published sources, WP:SELFPUB, particularly point 7. --jbmurray (talkcontribs) 12:02, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the advice. There's a growing research literature on LAMS (eg, see http://scholar.google.com.au/scholar?hl=en&lr=&cites=1421430853371024648 for 89 citations of the original LAMS article from the ASCILITE conference - see http://ascilite.org.au/conferences/adelaide03/docs/pdf/593.pdf ). But unless the Wikipedia article is expanded considerably, this is probably more than is needed. For the general concepts in the current first paragraph, an independent article that touches on most of this that might be appropriate as a reference would be this one from JIME - http://www-jime.open.ac.uk/2005/02/berggren-2005-02-05.html Lamsfoundation (talk) 12:18, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
It would be grand to have something along those lines. And the article could certainly do with some expansion, so no worries on that point. Why don't you add something yourself (this field is far from being my area of expertise, though I'm trying to stir up some people for whom it is, and you're welcome to join in). I'll have a look over it at some point in the future. --jbmurray (talkcontribs) 12:24, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the advice - will try to put something together over the coming week - and the assistance is appreciated! Lamsfoundation (talk) 12:29, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
