Is this a licenced version of Pop Idol, or just a copycat? Or is it a licenced version of Star Academy or Operacion Triunfo? Or is it a completely original show?

Certainly http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Academy claims La Academia as a version of Star Academy rather than Idol. I'm changing it, please let me know if you have reason to believe this is wrong. 203.113.233.152 01:48, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

yes that was me! :) i saw the word "academy" in the show's title and assumed it was a star academy series... but i'm not sure, which is why i asked here.... especially as this article claims it spawned spin-offs in other countries, i.e. suggesting it was then start of a new original franchise. also please note that mexico had its own operacion triunfo show, and operacion triunfo is just the "spanish" brand of star academy. so it doesnt make sense for 2 starac/optriunfo shows to air on 2 different mexican channels?
