Kourtney Mary Kardashian (born April 18, 1979) is an apparel retailer and television personality. She is best known for her appearances on the reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

[edit] Early Life

Kourtney Kardashian was born in Los Angeles, California[1] to attorney Robert Kardashian and Kris Jenner (née Houghton). Robert Kardashian, best known for being O. J. Simpson’s lawyer during his murder trial, died on September 30, 2003.[2] Her mother, Kris, divorced Robert in 1989 and married former Olympian Bruce Jenner in 1991.[3] Her mother is the owner of Los Angeles children's shop Smooch.[1]

Kardashian attended the Catholic all-girls school Marymount High School. Following graduation, she left California to move to Dallas where she attended Southern Methodist University for two years. She then moved to Tucson and attended the University of Arizona, graduating with a degree in Theatre Arts and a minor in Spanish. Her classmates included Nicole Richie, Heather Blair, and Luke Walton.[1]

In addition to her mother and stepfather, Kardashian has two sisters, Khloe Kardashian and Kim Kardashian, and one brother, Robert Kardashian. She also three stepbrothers, Burton Jenner, Brandon Jenner, and Brody Jenner; a stepsister, Casey Jenner; and two half-sisters, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner.[4]

In 2005, Kardashian joined the cast of Filthy Rich: Cattle Drive, a reality show in which celebrities lived together in a small town in Colorado. She was portrayed as a stereotypical spoiled rich girl, but has indicated that the producers of the show contributed a large amount of money to charity.[1]

In 2007, Kardashian was invited to co-star in E!'s Keeping Up with the Kardashians, a reality show centering on the life of her sister Kim. Since the beginning of the series, she has become a significant character on the show and has developed her own fan base.[1]She is known as "The Unassuming Firecracker" for her quiet but spontaneous personality.[5]

Kardashian owns and operates DASH, a clothing boutique in Los Angeles, with Kim and Khloe. She also assists her mom at her shop Smooch.[1]
