KNIT-AM has never been owned by Disney. The referenced citation at Radio-Online has been taken down.

For its recent history per the FCC records - In 2003, the station was owned by Univision, then sold to Salem Communications (then known as KHCK). In February 3, 2006 the station sale to JCE Licenses was completed and the call sign changed to KNIT. JCE stands for James Crystal, which is 100% owned by JAMES C. HILLIARD of Fort Lauderdale. Nothing in the FCC records indicates any business ties between James Crystal and Disney. ESPN was (and is) owned by ABC Radio (ESPN was not sold to Citadel when ABC Radio was divested from Disney in 2007), but the station itself was never owned by Disney/ABC.StreamingRadioGuide (talk) 18:34, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Researching it further, the original basis for these statements was a press release here[1] which said that "The affiliate in Dallas will be managed and operated by ESPN, Inc., making it the first Spanish-language radio station to be fully managed by the company. ". This was picked up by several hispanic media blog posts in August of 2007 - example here[2] and here[3], which morphed "Managed by" into "Owned and Operated By".StreamingRadioGuide (talk) 18:47, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] KBOX (AM) article to be merged

As some may know, an article is written about KBOX (AM), a former country music station in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex on AM frequency 1480 kHz. I suggest that KBOX (AM) should be merged into KNIT (AM) because the KNIT article has the same station history info as the other article. Mbrstooge (talk) 21:29, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Thats a lot of information to merge and it wouldn't really benefit KNIT (AM). KBOX (AM) should instead be categorized as a defunct station and the article left pretty much as is.--Rtphokie (talk) 16:26, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
