[edit] Gräfin Dubarry/Der Evangelimann

I can certainly do the latter. The former is more difficult but I can see what's in .de and mock up a stub. I also have some synopses to do for some of the other blue-links, which will overflow into June. I find that time flies much faster since I retired than it did when I was working! --GuillaumeTell 11:02, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Prod and redirects

You put a prod on a large amount of redirects...I just wanted to let you know that the proposed deletion process isn't used for redirects. You'll want to nominate them over at RFD. Personally, though, I don't see anything wrong with them. --UsaSatsui (talk) 09:35, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Boosey & Hawkes: {{Opera}} template

Hi, you recently removed the {{Opera}} template from "Boosey & Hawkes", but it's just been reinserted by MelonBot, probably because the article is in the category "Opera publishers". You may wish to remove that category if you think it inappropriate, or speak to the owner of the bot about refining what it does. — Cheers, JackLee talk 19:19, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Portal talk:Opera

MelonBot added WikiProject banner in Portal:Opera talkpage, for that, now we have 2 tags. Which one you think we should use? - Jay (talk) 11:05, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

I created "portal banner" because at that time I wasn’t sure what to put in there, simply because portal is not an article. However if you think the banner should have been “article banner”, you could just remove “portal banner”. I actually prefer “article” than portal. About whether we should put a banner or not, I think yes, we should. It is to tell readers or other contributors that the portal falls under Opera project - Jay (talk) 15:11, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Repeated bannering by MelonBot

  • Portal:Opera is in Category:Opera. I'm not clear what is wrong with it having the banner. Isn't it part of the Opera Project?
  • Russian Private Opera, although a redirect, is in Category: Opera companies. Most redirects don't have categories, but giving it the category means that this title appears in italics in the category listing, which may or may not be a good thing in this case (I've never heard of it). Might be useful for all those Paris opera houses that kept changing their names, for example.

[edit] Rose Marie (operetta), etc. question

Hi. I noticed that you removed the opera project banner from Rose Marie. Are you sure you want to do that? The scope of the opera project covers operetta, and even though Rose Marie is sometimes musicalized, it is usually performed by light opera companies or even opera companies. It seems to me that it is OK to have both the opera and musical theatre banners. However, if we can choose only one, I would suggest that the opera banner is the more appropriate one, because the musicals project *excludes* operettas in its "scope". I would think that all the Friml and Romberg operettas are in the same boat.... -- Ssilvers (talk) 23:02, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

It's OK by me if you want to reverse the banners and put Opera rather than Musicals (likewise presumably for other Broadway operettas). I had a look at it and thought it was more musical - and more Musical Project - than Operetta (Opera). The fact it's labelled as an operetta is only one factor in this.--Kleinzach 23:21, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. I also replaced the operetta and opera cats, OK? Best regards, -- Ssilvers (talk) 23:30, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion of page move redirects that were a year old

Hi there. Could I ask you to look in on the discussion at the bottom of the section here? Thanks. Carcharoth (talk) 07:30, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

I replied over there. Thanks. BTW, your note at the bottom of the page ("write above this line") doesn't work when people add sections. There are ways to do this cleanly, probably involving transcluding from a subpage, but it can get complicated. Just letting you know there is a solution if you want to avoid moving it down to the bottom all the time. Carcharoth (talk) 11:11, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
I'm afraid I don't know, though I have seen it done successfully elsewhere! Maybe ask at WP:HELPDESK? Carcharoth (talk) 05:57, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Music directors (opera)

You seem to have completely forgotten that, in an email to me on Friday 30 May at 0814 your time, you said "How about Category:Opera music directors? Or maybe better, Category:Music directors (opera) if we are allowed parentheses? I see no problem in having another cat if there are a few articles to go in it."

I can't see why the opera project should cover opera houses and opera companies and opera managers without also covering the Music Directors of those companies. And nearly all have entries in Opera Grove, I might add (as do the various directors, designers, operettas and whatnot that you don't seem to approve of).

As far as the CM project is concerned, my recollection is that they don't spend much time on conductors. I am not suggesting a category "opera conductors", you'll notice - just conductors involved in the management of opera companies. I created Richard Farnes myself because no-one else had done so. As I've said before, lots of Wikiprojects overlap with each other and articles have multiple banners. It isn't a problem. --GuillaumeTell 10:52, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi both. Kleinzach, I left you a reply re azione teatrale on my talk page. Guillaume Tell, I agree with you about the category of "Music directors (opera)". It's useful. Plus, I have no problem at all with multiple banners on pages. Conductors like Antonio Pappano, for example should definitely have the OP banner. I'd also suggest adding a section about how the term is used in opera houses in Music director, which concentrates solely on symphony orchestras (with a brief mention of musicals). Best, Voceditenore (talk) 07:39, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for confirming the Italian plural. Regarding the other matter, we'll need to discuss it on the Project, but it's important to see the whole picture. Almost all the conflicts that arise are related to multiple bannering. This is not surprising since different projects have different guidelines. The last bot run involved a series of tedious situations that took time to sort out. --Kleinzach 14:23, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Trial by Jury
