Kisber Felver

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kisber Felver is a sport horse breed developed at the former Kisber Stud in Hungary. Through a carefully controlled breeding program, a distinct type evolved. Created over a hundred years ago, the Kisber Felver displays conformation, athletic ability, movement, and temperament. Unfortunately, World War I and World War II nearly wiped them out. In 1945, more than half of the breeding stock were taken as war damage. 150 Kisber Felver horses were imported for the US Remount. Unlike the romantic and yet similar story of the Lipizzaner, these horses were sold at public auction in 1947 when the remount disbanded. Only a handful of people understood the true value of these horses and only through their passion do any remain.

Kisber Felvers are capable of performing in all modern sport horse disciplines. They range in all solid colors, including palomino and buckskin. they range from 15.3 to 17 hands high. Accepted crosses: All breeding stallions are inspected and licensed by the breeding committee to be used for reproduction.
