[edit] Archiving

I archived the old Talk Page because it was getting too long, and was really just filled with personal attacks and bickering. Hopefully, the clean space will lead to constructive comments. DanielEng 03:56, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Michelle Watada

In the Trivia Section: "Some fans claim that an unknown performer named Michelle Watada was allegedly originally cast in the 1989 season" Why is this important? Who is Michelle Watada? A google search for her only produces this exact same quote. I'm sure that there were a lot of people originally cast... catgirl667 19 July 2007

It's not at all important, you're right. The person doesn't even have an IMDB entry, and nobody really cares. The only reason it's there is because I grew tired of fighting with the IP trolls who insisted on putting it, and other irrelevant information, in the article and became abusive when it was removed. Which is why the trivia exists and has grown out of hand; all the good editors who have worked on this have essentially been driven away by the trolls and aren't keeping up with it anymore. If you'd like to give it a try, good luck. DanielEng 18:55, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Don't speak for an entire group either. DE. Alot of the trivia is out of hand? Daniel, don't sit up there and start telling tales. You're the only one I see besides Vicky and I frequently edit this entry.

Catgirl, the point I was trying to make is that a lot of people we know have been cast on this series. Michelle goes by another name anyway. Last I check it was M. Watada James and/or LaDonna W. James.199.80.117.25 15:10, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

We're not going back into this realm of personal attacks, Rocky. You've been blocked quite a few times before, and it can happen again. The fact that you know some anonymous and irrelevant person doesn't mean they should be in the Wiki entry, but we've been through this before. We've also been through the entire "the article shouldn't have a trivia section" routine before, but hey, you've made it very clear you're more interested in making this a poorly written personal fanpage than an encyclopedia article. You want to junk up the article, be my guest, I don't care and eventually another editor will come along and delete it all as rubbish anyway. As to 'telling tales,' you go ahead and look at how many editors have tried this page and given up. I'm not particularly editing this anymore, I'm just trying to weed out the most ridiculous stuff. DanielEng 19:27, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Whatever you say, Danny. If you're not "editing" the stuff out you don't know then don't comment. personal attacks? so what are you a baby now? I just said don't lie. how is that a personal attack?199.80.117.25 21:22, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] With a Twinkle in his Eye

I placed the trivia there for this reason and rewatching the episode then reading its supports this fact and the trivia. Here's the source if we can post video links: 199.80.117.25 15:12, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

You can't post YouTube links to broadcast television programs, no. Copyright infringement. According to the website you like to cite so often, the summary for that episode is "The kids just can't find ways to keep from quarreling, until a mysterious person drops by." There's nothing about abuse there, sorry, and if you think there is, it's your own original research.

Also, this is the third time you've tried to put something sexual into this article. This isn't the place to talk about the "subtle nature of pedophilia." Again, I question why you seem to be so interested in putting stuff of this nature on this page. DanielEng 19:29, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

What the hell? Did you not look at the commentary I was referring you too? Don't make me out to be a pervert, no. (Get angry at Kisensation). I don't care what the episode was about I just read the commentary and thought it derserved to be placed here, dude. My god. I question your intention as you're the one who started the article. 199.80.117.25 21:16, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

  • yawn* You know, you're really getting boring. If you can't edit and interact here without throwing tantrums and making personal attacks, you'll just be blocked again. I'd really think you'd have learned that by now.
As to your contributions to the article, you want me to pull up the diffs? They're there in the history, in case you've conveniently forgotten them: [1]

[2] [3]

Those are all you. And you are the only one, barring the random IP trolls, who has made edits of this nature. Care to explain them, particularly the third one? DanielEng 21:41, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Can't we all just get along? Also, I only remember making the first one. wasn't trying to be perverted so don't friggin' blame me, dude. User:199.80.117.25|199.80.117.25]] 21:43, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Well, unless there are a bunch of folks named Rocky (you answered to the name above) who edit exactly the same pages in the same style, all those edits were you. Especially since you just admitted above that you made the original Watada edit, which came from a different IP address, and because your current IP is very similar to another that edited the same pages, but is now permanently blocked from editing.
Hey, though, if you have in fact turned over a new leaf and are ready to work on Wiki, go to it. Nobody will hold you back from making positive contributions, and they're always appreciated by the community. DanielEng 02:37, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

No problem.199.80.117.25 14:34, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Series Highlight

Is it alright if we include a section in the main article on this? I think it will be worthwile as most of us grew up on the series and know which ones did and didn't stick out.199.80.117.25 16:44, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

I think it would be a lovely idea for a fan site, but not for an encyclopedia article like Wiki. The problem with a "series highlights" type section is that it's based on fans' opinions and that fails the WP:NPOV and WP:NOR guidelines. If you can find a source (as in a newspaper article, industry article, etc....NOT a fan site like KI.us) saying that a particular episode had a really high Nielsen rating, controversy or critical reaction, that might be able to be worked into the existing body of the article, but a section on highlight episodes isn't workable. Perhaps it's the sort of idea you'd like to pitch over at KI.us. DanielEng 20:10, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hawaii

I removed the statement saying "The State of Hawaii initially decided not to air the regular version but in 2001 started to show the series beginning with Season 2 all the way through Season 8" because states don't make decisions about whether a syndicated television series gets shown in the state. The decision is made by the television stations. At any rate, the show had much of its run on cable television, so it wouldn't even have been necessary for anyone local in Hawaii to decide whether to show the series -- it would just have come with the Disney Channel. --Metropolitan90 06:29, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] All did their own vocals?

Question about the following phrase (disputed part in bold):

All of the members of the cast were strong singers and performed their own vocals

As I am typing this, a video I was watching on YouTube is ending from 1988; and there were some people questioning whether Richie Shoff actually did any of his own singing (to be precise, recorded the vocals himself) or not. WAVY 10 Fan 13:20, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

As far as I know, all of them did do their own vocals, yes. Most of the KI kids did other voiceover/singing work outside of the show, and since none of them were star names, I doubt they would have cast them just to hire someone else to dub them over. The singing was obviously recorded in the studio and lip-synched during the shooting of the scenes, but they're lip-synching to their own vocals. DanielEng 15:57, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Weird, isn't it?199.80.117.25 16:25, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

That's pretty much always how it's done when they film a music video or someone doing a musical performance in a TV show or film. DanielEng
