The Khost Airfield is suituated 2 miles southeast of the town of Khost and 9 miles northeast of the Pakistan border in a valley surrounded by high terrains from West and East.

As of 2008, there have been three major reported accidents - all of them during the Soviet occupation and because of attacks from the ground with Antonov An-26 aircraft.[1]
