[edit] Middle East

  • Iraq
    • In September 2007, Opinion Business Research, an independent polling agency based in London, published a report estimating 1,220,580 total Iraqis killed as a result of violence, with a range due to margin of error at 733,158 to 1,446,063 deaths. On 28 January 2008, ORB published an update based on additional work carried out in rural areas of Iraq. Some 600 additional interviews were undertaken and as a result of this the death estimate was revised to 1,033,000 with a given range of 946,000 to 1,120,000.[25]
    • According to an independent study (main funder Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and published in The Lancet, Volume 368, Number 9545, 21 October 2006 [PDF copy at http://download.thelancet.com/pdfs/journals/0140-6736/PIIS0140673606694919.pdf], civilian body counts are estimated to be 654,965. It states: Of post-invasion deaths, 601027 (426369–793663) were due to violence, the most common cause being gunfire. The research method used was identical to those used in scientific epidemic research.
    • 100,000 to 150,000 estimated civilian deaths in hospitals according to the Iraqi Health Ministry in November 2006, based on extrapolating current rate of death back to March 2003.
    • At least 19 American civilians (non-contractors) have also been killed.
  • Saudi Arabia

  • Israel
  • Lebanon
    • 2006 Lebanon War: 850[26]-1,191[27] (including 17 Syrians, 8 Canadians, 6 Brazilians, 4 Germans, 3 Palestinians, 2 Filipinos, 1 Indonesian, 1 Iraqi, 1 Jordanian, 1 Kuwaiti, 1 Nigerian, 1 Sri Lankan, 1 Ukrainian)
