[edit] Name

What should be the name used for this County? The inhabitants all spoke Finnish, so Käkisalmen lääni might be appropriate. The corresponding town of Kexholm is now Priozersk, but calling the place with that name is an anachronism: the 17th century Russians used name Keksgolm (Кексгольм). Swedish was the language of administration, so the use of Kexholm County is roughly appropriate.

I have proposed moving Åbo and Björneborg County to Turku and Pori County because the placenames should be written in contemporary form, as the province existed until 1997. However, in this article, the name Kexholm County is at least as good as any other. --MPorciusCato 13:11, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
