[edit] Cenelm of Mercia

Cenelm of Mercia was an historical figure, known only through official documents. His identification as the saint is problematic as the two life stories have several discrepancies, not least the age at death. Merging the articles is therefore not a good idea.

Is there any doubt among historians that the St Kenelm and the Ætheling Cynehelm are the same person? I couldn't find any dissenting views, but I didn't look very hard. Angus McLellan (Talk) 13:34, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

I think the question is, is St kenelm a hsitoric figure at all? In any case, historic records indicate that Cynehelm lived to a much greater age than the saint so it seems they cannot have been the same person.
