[edit] Cable Carriage
At midnight on 14 December 2006, KAYU pulled its own signal from the local (North Idaho) Time Warner Cable service. KAYU is looking for compensation and full carriage of its digital spectrum-issues with which Time Warner is at odds. Time Warner Cable operates three of the 90 cable headends serving the Spokane television market. The station has satisfactory arrangements with the remaining cable operators as well as satellite services Dish Network and DirecTV. [1] KAYU-TV finally restored its channel to Time Warner Cable on February 1, 2008 after reaching a new five year deal that will last until February 1, 2013 [2].

[edit] News
In 1991, KAYU began broadcasting a 10pm newscast produced by KREM-TV. Dismal ratings caused KREM to cancel the newscast in 1993, upon which KHQ-TV stepped in. Their news offering was canceled in 1994.
In 1999, KAYU produced an in-house 10pm newscast that ran until 2004. KXLY-TV assisted in content and talent for a short time.
In 2004, KAYU went back to KHQ-TV for news, resulting in FOX FIRST AT TEN.
In 2008, KAYU came back to Pullman. This is the first time there has been a Fox broadcast since 2007.
