[edit] jargon

"Bulk residence times " - what does this mean? Canuckle 23:51, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Hydro9logical mumbo-jumbo. It refers to the length of time a given volume of water stays in a lake; or, hmmm does it have to do with water that doesn't leave the lake? - as in the case of a lot of Lake Superior's and others. Plain English would sure be a lot better huh?Skookum1 (talk) 06:04, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Tobiano Resort spam removal

Any experienced editor knows why I took a big chunk of non-lake related material out of here, otehr than because it wasn't directly related to the lake; it was outright commercial spam. What's so crass about this kind of stuff (as on Ten Mile Point, British Columbia, Bear Mountain (resort), Great Wolf Lodge and others that Iv'e run across, is that the resorts have p.r. advertising budgets and ahve the money to pay for advertising; nay, to donate to wikipedia even. And if it's p.r. firms they're hiring, the bloody idiots don't even take the time to read the content guidelines and instead think that they can scribble whatever "hey we've got a super-duper golf course with unique views and creative restaurants and rooms overlooking the bar/greens/lake adn the fancy architecture etc" baffle-garble and expect it to stand unchallenged. They can pay for the same thing they're making for free here. In fact, it's likely that the person makeing those contributions is doing so as part of their paychque. WP:COI is not something such people care about, or have reason to respect; I'll save my highly POV views on p.r. agencies and their willingness to sell out and even corrupt the public and public institutions on behalf of their clients - particularly here in BC - but suffice to say they have the money and expense to build their own friggin' websites, and should have the class (and p.r. sense) not to make presumptive and way tooo braggish and often even childishly-written articles (nad talkpage rants taht make my worst excesses of temper look positively boddhisattva-like). Apparently go to school to get an education to qualify you to write crap like taht only serves to prove to me how irrelevant a university education has become....when the result is sa complete lack of either knowledge or manners, to say not6hing of literacy...."unique", "world-class" etc are tags used by half-wits who need thesauri to think with and seem to all come from the same "unique" school of writing.Skookum1 (talk) 06:04, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Just for teh record "Tobiano" is not listed in the provincial gazette; if there'd been so much as a placename around Kamloops Lake that might warrant an article.....Skookum1 (talk) 06:08, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
