K31GL is a low-powered Independent station for the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex, licensed in DeSoto, Texas, owned and operated by Mako Communications. It is not available on either Time Warner Cable, Charter Communications, or Verizon FiOS at this time.
This station initially began as a repeater for Univision affiliate KUVN-TV. In 2004 KUVN sold the low-powered station to Mako Communications, making the station an America's Store affiliate for 2 years. At that time, the call sign eventually changed to K31GL. During the summer of 2006, the station picked up Almavision.
At one time in the late 80s a non-profit organization secured a construction permit for a full-power station in Channel 31 that would have broadcast from Fort Worth with the calls KETE-TV. However, the organization never built the station and the CP was cancelled by the FCC.
On late 2006, Almavision programming ceased on the station and started airing an all-infomercial format, which is still broadcasting to this day. This is much like KSEX-LP's current format.
