You're welcome. :D I hate how people so readily take that blasted theory as fact.
[edit] License tagging for Image:Quintaglio.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Quintaglio.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 19:09, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Map_of_land.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:Map_of_land.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

You are the man. I've been trying for ages to find a decent Gyaos image that doesn't violate the copyrights (I even put something on the discussion page about it) and havnt managed it. Thank you very much.--SMegatron 19:32, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unmade Godzilla Films

[edit] Zoids images
For future reference, take the page heading (in this case Image:Berserk Fury.jpg). Copy everything from the colon back (you shoud end up with "Berserk Fury.jpg". Paste onto the appropriate page in the ImageName field. Caption as appropriate. -- saberwyn 10:30, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
- a few other things. One, on talk pages, leave your mark after your words by whacking four "~" down. This will autoinsert your signature when the page is saved. Secondly, if you intend to replace an image, and it backfires for whatever reason, place the old image back and go to the talkpage. Please don't wait a month and a half, in which time the old and still useful (if over-used) image will be deleted. -- saberwyn 10:38, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:FW Godzilla.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:FW Godzilla.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Requests for inserting images
Just a couple of requests for when you insert images into the Zoids articles.
- Please don't use abbreviations. Average Joe doesn't know what a CPC is, or what NC/0 is. They tend to have a better idea when you say Charged Particle Cannon or New Century Zero. In the latter case, wikilinks are your friend.
- If you replace an image, can you insert it somewhere within the article. They are often still of use illustrating another section of the article. The most glaring example was Sabre Tiger, where the model image is easily used in the section dealing with the model. We've lost some good shots in the past because other people have done this.
- Please try to use screenshots that clearly depict the Zoid in question. I've reverted Geno Breaker, because while it is a cool looking capture, it's extremely difficult to make out what is the Zoid and what isn't. On the flip side, the particle cannon shot you added is quite nice, and if it ever gets to the point where we need an article on the weapon itself, I'm putting that image in it.
Thanks! -- saberwyn 02:00, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] I'm just curious...
What the hell is wrong with photographs of the actual model kits, seeing as the models came long before the anime, and are the entire basis of the Zoids franchise? -- saberwyn 11:21, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
I was just hoping to improve the articles by uploading screenshots, which I happen to think look far better then pictures of the models and help put the Zoid into context. No need to be rude about it. K00bine 12:58, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
- My apologies. Its just been a rough week, and I will admit I put a lot of effort into organising and taking those photos. I still think the models should be the primary focus, as from where I stand they are the entire binding force of the franchise, with things like the anime, games, and comics coming much later in the grand scheme. Consequently I would personally prefer a greater focus be placed on images of the models. However, I do admit that most of those screenshots do add a lot to the article. -- saberwyn 00:59, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
- It's okay. Personally, I think that since the first half of the article is spent putting the Zoid into context, (describing its role in the battle story, anime, et all) then if possible the picture up at the top should depict the Zoid in context, with either a screenshot or a fanbook or box scan. The model section is at the bottom and I think model pics are more appropriate down there. I see model pics as a "last resort" as a main pic if something better can't be provided. You asked if the text from a site that is no longer on line is in the public domain. It is not. The copyright holder would need to formally release it to public domain for that to happen. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Geno Saurer yellow.JPG
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Geno Saurer yellow.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Re: Geno Breaker image revert war
-simultaneous post SAMAS, K00bine. This revert war over the infobox image in the Geno Breaker article needs to stop. I'm going to ask you two to nicely: Start discussing each other, peacefully, which image is the more encyclopedic inclusion to the article, and stick with it. Or, if you two can't agree, maybe what we have to do is remove both images and let someone else decide which particular screenshot is most appropriate. -- saberwyn 11:47, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Which brings the question of why you replaced the image in the first place. Had it been for, say, an actual Geno Breaker model, it would be perfectly understandable. Project rules state that Model images trump anime images, and the anime image gets moved down to the anime section. But your only justification was "Replace old image with new one" Images on Wikipedia don't have expiration dates. SAMAS 16:14, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Lol, project? What project? Last I checked the wikipedia Zoids project was dead as a doornail. I don't see why I should adhere to the rules of a project that no longer exists. There's absolutely no reason why I can't replace the pic if I want to. Pictures are replaced in articles all the time.
As for my reason on reverting the pic? It looks better. It's on a slight angle so you can see more of the Zoid.
K00bine 19:41, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Pictures are usually replaced with a reason, usually the former picture being deleted or disputed in use. Happens to mine all the time.
And why follow the project's rules? For the same reasons the rules were made in the first place. Has the need gone away?
And those deletion notices (like the one below) are damn annoying. Try not to inflict them on other people, which arbitrarily replacing images does. SAMAS 15:09, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use disputed for Image:Ass Blaster.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Ass Blaster.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:58, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Allosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, and King Kong
Hi, K00bine;
Are you sure about it being Cooper instead? The Glut cite says O'Brien ("reportedly", now that I look again), so potentially they both got it wrong (not that it's a big deal for the article, just a Fun FactTM). J. Spencer 21:06, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
Well, I do know for sure that Cooper mistook the T. Rex in King Kong for an Allosaurus; he calls the creature an Allosaur in a prerecorded commentary for the King Kong DVD. I suppose it's conceivable that both O'Brien and Cooper could have made the same error, I've never personally heard anything about O'Brien misidentifying the "Meat Eater" in Kong as an Allosaur; indeed, the stop motion model was designed as a T. Rex for a scrapped project called "Creation", so I'm assuming that O'Brien knew it was a Tyrannosaur.

[edit] Allosaurus
Hey K00bine,
Allosaurus, an article you worked on, is currently up for Featured Article Candidacy here. I'm not asking for you to support the candidacy, but because you've already worked on the article, you may have more ideas on how to improve the article, or concerns that should be addressed (we're a tiny project, and so the number of ideas for improvement are limited to what a few people think of).
I'm also sending out requests to other users who have worked on the article a bit, and to the Tree of Life WikiProject, for more feedback. Feel free to ignore this request if you've better things to do, or if it annoys you to get a sort of impersonal message. I'm just trying to get more of the community involved in making input on the dinosaur FACs, and this is my (admittedly semi-lame) attempt. Anyone else who reads this message on your talk page would also be welcome to make suggestions or comments. :) Best, Firsfron of Ronchester 02:00, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Orga.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. [edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Millenium Godzilla.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Millenium Godzilla.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 01:43, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Atomic Heat Ray.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Atomic Heat Ray.jpg.
Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:44, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:TIM Defender of the Earth.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:TIM Defender of the Earth.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Buster Fury 1.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:Buster Fury 1.JPG. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
-
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
