The Tropical Cyclone Featured Topic Collaboration is a collaboration which focuses on improving specific groups of tropical cyclone-related articles, and improving them to Featured Topic status. A featured topic is a collection of inter-related articles that are of a good quality (though not necessarily featured articles). A featured topic represents Wikipedia’s best work by thoroughly covering all parts of that topic through several high-quality articles that share a similar structure and are well-linked with each other. Anyone, regardless of their knowledge of tropical cyclones, is welcome to lend a hand.

[edit] Nominating

  1. Choose you nomination: Before you choose your nomination, be sure you are familiar with The Featured Topic criteria. If you feel you are sufficiently familiar with the Featured Topic (FT) criteria, you should have a feel of which groups of articles would make sufficient FTs and pass the FT criteria. When you have choosen which group of articles for your nomination, identify the Lead Article. The lead article, as noted in the FT criteria, is the article in which leads the Featured Topic, and is generally the most important article. Once you are done with this, paste the following text on the Top of the Nomination section:

===[[Lead article]]===

[edit] Selecting the next collaboration

The selection process involves three steps:

  1. Nomination: New nominations can be made at any time and should be added at the end of the Candidates for next week section. Insightful comments may assist others in casting their vote.
  2. Voting: To vote for an article, add your ~~~~ under the article's support section. Any registered Wikipedian can vote on this page, regardless of their level of knowledge about the subject. A Wikipedian who supports an article is encouraged to make at least 4 edits to the article, whether minor or major.
  3. Selection: The colllaboration is selected by approval voting; thus, you may vote for as many candidates as you like, and opposition votes have no bearing. The article with the most support votes by the time of the next selection is selected as the winner. In case of a tie, the candidate that was nominated first wins. After the group of articles has been choosen, place {{User:Juliancolton/FT template}} on the selected Lead Article's talk page, and place {{User:Juliancolton/FT Template2}} on the talk page of the rest of the nomination's articles.

A nomination will be removed and archived if it does not receive at least 1 vote per week.

[edit] Next article selection

  1. Current collaboration time: There is generally no limit as to how long a group of articles stays under collaboration, although it is usually collaborated on until it is "Done", or at Featured Topic status. However, if a collaboration appears to be inactive for more than 90 days, it is ended and archived, and the next collaboration is choosen. If a collaboration is active, but is not successful in 6 month's time, it is ended and archived, as well.

With the majority of the articles being GA or better, I feel this would be a good Featured Topic to work towards getting. Juliancolton The storm still blows... 20:12, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
