Joker & the Thief is a song by Australian hard rock band Wolfmother from their debut self-titled album. It was released as a single in late 2006 and is currently their best-selling single.
Andrew Stockdale, frontman and lyricist for Wolfmother, has stated that the characters in this song came from Bob Dylan's song "All Along the Watchtower", a song he has adored for years.
The song is featured in movies such as Jackass Number Two, Shoot 'Em Up, and Shrek the Third and video games Need for Speed: Carbon and MLB 07: The Show, as well as a Mitsubishi and Peugeot commercial. The song is also available as downloadable content for the music video game Rock Band.
"Joker & the Thief" was nominated for "Best Rock Video" and "Video of the Year" at the Australia's MTV Video Music Awards.
