From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Well! There is no Book of Disquiet article in Wikipedia.
For some reason this is a shock to me! I was looking forward to reading what someone had written about it. So. I guess i will have to write it myself.
Now I am not game just to claim the page and write : The Book of Disquiet is a book written by the Portugese writer Fernando Pessoa. Even though it is a simple truth, and could link back to the Pessoa page, because it will be replaced or removed or I'll be flamed or reprimanded by a moderator.
The writers of the Wikipedia page on Pessoa have been reprimanded thus :
This article may be excessively or inappropriately using first or second person, contrary to the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia entry.
So it becomes clear that Wikipedia ia not about personal expresion.
One of the writers has deleted another writer's article on Pessoa! That would not encourage you to tackle writing a page on The Book of Disquiet.
In the meantime here is a link to my book of disquiet blog.
[edit] Notability of Anna Poletti
A tag has been placed on Anna Poletti requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. — ERcheck (talk) 02:29, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Anna Poletti notability
Some pages to use as guidelines to help in creating the article, and determining if it will meet Wikipedia guidelines:
- WP:BIO and Wikipedia:Notability (academics). Simply being an academic with a PhD is insufficient. Having one's thesis published is standard and does not help establish notability.
- WP:Verify: Note that subject's personal website is not considered to be a reliable source (but, could be put in the "External links" section).
- WP:NOTCRYSTAL (aka Not a crystal ball): Something that is about to happen doesn't establish notability.
Her other activities — founders of Australia's National Young Writers' Festival and the yearly Critical Animals conference — may be notable, if the festival and conference are notable. Her expert commentary and interviews may be helpful — refer to WP:Notability (academics) and WP:Verify. If you can provide reliable sources for this information, it may be good. I suggest that you start it on a user subpage so you can have a full article before moving it to main space. Go here: User:Johannes.klabbers/Sandbox — your own "sandbox" for creating articles. If you would like me to review before you move it to main space, drop me a line. — ERcheck (talk) 23:50, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- I've restored the deleted content to your sandbox page for you to work on. A resource to assist you is the Biography WikiProject's "Tips for writing biographies". — ERcheck (talk) 12:40, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
