[edit] Surname was Power or O'Connor Power ?

This article started with the surname as Power, was changed to O'Connor Power and now back to Power. I've found him indexed under both surnames in books. Does anybody have a definitive authority on this ?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Rcbutcher (talkcontribs)

Well, both the National Library of Ireland and the British Library index him as Power, John O'Connor. In addition, his father's name was Power, which given normal social and legal conventions, would mean that his surname should also be Power.--Damac 06:42, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

That's good enough for me Damac ! T M Healy switches between the 2 versions in his narrative. Rcbutcher 08:41, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

I agree to his being indexed under Power but see no problem in using both forms in the article, as his contemporaries did.

Well done, and thanks to Damac for reworking the footnotes. Time to join Footnotes and References sections? Mirallen 18:29, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
