"John Magee" described here is linked to the John Magee referred to in the article "Nanking Massacre."

Can't possibly be the same person if the one described in this article was born in 1936 and the one mentioned in "Nanking Massacre" was an adult in Nanking China in 1937 and was present for, and filmed events during the Nanking Massacre.

The link in "Nanking Massacre" to John Magee needs to be removed.

This is now partly resolved by a change of name of the article on Bishop John Magee to John Magee (Bishop) and the readjust of the redirect page to point to the existence of more than one John Magee. The Nanking Massacre article is now protected from editing. Doubtless this and other John Magees will crop up in future and need to be further distiguished.

A lot of this article seems anti Bishop Magee, and seems to neglect many of the fine things he has done for the Diocese of Cloyne

"Bishop Magee's moral authority in the diocese of Cloyne has, according to some, been severely impaired by his recent public dispute with the Friends of St. Colman's Cathedral, a local conservationist group in Cobh which has protracted a highly effective opposition to the Bishop's controversial plans to wreck the interior of Cobh Cathedral". The reference to "wreck" is highly provocative, and reflects the views of those who would wish to retain structures originally intended to exclude women from reaching the altar. The repeated use of the phrase "ultra-modernize" is also unfortunate, as it implies that the author has a knowledge of architecture.

it is obvious that much of this article reflects a person who has a personal grudge against the Bishop. the IP address 85.43.58.100 reflects many changes to the article which a tabloid styled, blaming the bishop for many things that are not his fault. he should not be blamed for the seperation of the Church and scouts, nor for the decline in seminanian population, which is mirrored accross the country. unfortunately looking at 85.43.58.100's list of edits it seems obvious that the person has a deep interest in Cloyne Diocese, especially Buttervant parish, various clergymen from Cloyne, Ballybeg Priory and Cahirmee Horse Fair. What's more his IP addree is tracable to Lazio in Rome, and ir provided for by TELECOMITALIA.IT. if he has issues with the Bishop than that's his own business but he shouldnt be displaying them here. Many people think highly of our Bishop and public records like this should not give such negative images of the Bishop-who is still alive and so this artical is governed by the rules of biographies for living persons.

Also it is non-sence to blame the Good Bishop for the seperation of the Scouts from the Church, rather ther was a joining of the Catholic and Protestant scouting movements which also allows for people of other religions now join the scouts in Ireland. indeed this movement actually allowed for a closer working of Clergy men of several faith groups with the scouts.

also it is absurd to suggest that the Bishop went on a holiday mountain climbing only a few weeks after a knee transplant-reason demonstrated this alone. but for the record the Bishop is in good health, very good health, and any suggestion otherwise is trash. he was sick, he was overworked, but he is now better and rested.

It might be helpful in resolving the problem if we had some sourcing for the subject's state of health. That he has not been able to do the job for the past while gives credence to the claim that he has not been in very good health.

I do not think that using the work "wreck" necessarily implies support for any group. It is possible that even the best plans can objectively go wrong and leave a "wreck".

Reference to retaining structures "originally intended to exclude women from reaching the altar" would need to be clarified. Are we talking of altar rails? If so, their purpose is to facilitate communicants. Or, are we talking of some other structure?
