[edit] Regrets?

I think I remember hearing on a Radio show a while ago that Costello later regretted the Republic's withdrawal from the Commonwealth, but I have no source for this. Has anyone heard that too? Ireland could, afterall, - constitutionally - easily have stayed within the Commonwealth as an independent republicin the late '40s and '50s like India did. 2 April 2006 KRC58 00:06, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

I am not sure it was Costello, i think it might have been deV who said it, also considering his grandson? has brought up the idea of returning to the Commonwealth. And i don't think they really withdrawed from the commonwealth, more like they let the membership lapse, which just happened to coincide with the proclamation of the republic. --Boothy443 | trácht ar 05:22, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
