John A. Chapman was the sixth manager in Manchester United history. He started in 1921 after Jack Robson fell ill. On October 8, 1927, Manchester United received a telegram from the Football Association saying that John was suspended from managing. No reason was ever given why. Shortly afterwards, Lal Hilditch took over.
