WikiProject Biography Assessment

The article may be improved by following the WikiProject Biography 11 easy steps to producing at least a B article. -- Yamara 05:42, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Joel's Other Projects

I have an old MST3K home tape with an advert for another of Joel's television creations, entitled The TV Wheel. Is there any information on this (obviously short-lived) show that can be included in the article?

[edit] Married?

I thought he isn't married but according to this site he is.

I wasn't able to confirm whether or not he is from a few google searches (or imdb), but I'm willing to defend that as established info unless someone can provide a source that he isn't. He's certainly not married to Gypsy though. :) --Syrthiss 02:02, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
Without a reliable source, there should be no information in this article about his marital status, either way. Opinions and beliefs are irrelevant. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 05:49, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Joel

For the last time, Joel never was or is married now!

[edit] re, married

please don't tell me I have another crush on a gay man. please.

Don't worry, you don't. From his interview for the Onion AV Club:

"It's really weird. A guy today was talking to me about Superman II. And I watched Superman II about six months ago, and there are parts of it I didn't remember. He was expecting me to remember, because people think of me as this videophile, and I kind of have to smile and nod and go, "Oh, yeah, I know what you mean." But I can remember parts of it. A good analogy is that my girlfriend is an attorney, and she has to read so much for her job that at the end of the day, when she wants to read for pleasure she rushes through it, kind of gleaning the information. She's not reading for pleasure. It just shows how your work affects you in different ways."

[edit] Joel's Birth Name

Does it say John Joel Hodgson on his birth certificate? I remember back when Joel still ran gizmonics.com, he said his full name was Joel Gordon Hodgson. Or was this some private joke I'm missing? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.122.210.14 (talk • contribs) 04:52, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Seriously, I have yet to see any evidence that this is in fact his birth name.-Jkazoo 09:09, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
I've added a citation for IMDb's bio page, which states "Birth name: John Joel Hodgson". ~ Jeff Q (talk) 12:20, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] References

I've slapped an {{unreferenced}} tag on this article because most of the text in it isn't backed up by any of sources, explicit or implicit, listed in the article. I've added and reformatted some source citations to make it a bit clearer what is supported, but the article really needs heavy sourcing work. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 05:10, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] MST3K departure

I reworded the discussion about Joel's departure from MST3K because it was trying to make an argument that the "real" reason he left was over the creative conflict between him and Jim Mallon. Reading the cited source, it's clear that his interest in staying behind the camera doing creation and production has always trumped his interest in performing. I believe my rephrasing better follows what the interview says — that there was more than one reason he departed, and that both were important factors. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 22:49, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Joel.gif

Image:Joel.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
