James E. "Jimmy" Collins (born November 24, 1946(1946-11-24)) is a retired American basketball player and current coach. He was born and raised in Syracuse, New York, where he attended Corcoran High School. Collins has been the head coach of the men's basketball team at the University of Illinois at Chicago since 1996.^[1] Prior to that, he was an assistant coach at the University of Illinois. He played college ball at New Mexico State University and had a brief professional career with the Chicago Bulls of the NBA and the Carolina Cougars of the ABA.^[2]
