Jim Laughlin (born 1958, in Cleveland, Ohio) is a former NFL and college football player.
The eighth pick in the 4th round of the 1980 NFL Draft (91st overall) by the Atlanta Falcons, Laughlin, was one in a long line of standout Linebackers to have played for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

- As a team captain during his senior year (1979), Laughlin (along with Ernie Andria) had a share in a blocked punt against Michigan during the final moments of the game, which was returned for a touchdown by Todd Bell. The play put the Buckeyes on top 18-15, sending the team to the 1980 Rose Bowl.
- In 1979, Laughlin was the Buckeyes MVP (Most Valuable Player).
- Played his high school football at Charles F. Brush High School in his hometown. Lyndhurst, Ohio.
- A 1979 National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame Scholarship winner, which is awarded annually to the top 13 players in college football.
- A 1979 Academic All Big Ten Honoree.
