[edit] Thanks for bot that provides AfD Notice
I think that Jayden54bot sending notices to editors advising them of pending AfD's is great. Sorry to hear it might have other problems. Please don't get discouraged as this can be a valuable tool. I left some questions of Jayden54bot talk. Please respond when you get a chance. Thanks.Edivorce 15:19, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bot Malfunction?
I would like to let you know that your Bot may be malfunctioning. I was on vacation, and when I came back, It had nominated and successfully deleted and redirected my entire Dicography on Bella Morte to the band's main article. I see no reason for deletion, and the reasons in the AfD history are not valid in my eyes. If the reasons given are valid, why list albums/singles on wikipedia in the first place? Why not delete them all? I would like them to be undeleted. Please respond to this with your thoughts when you get it. Thanks. --Emevas 05:04, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] vandalism to batley grammar school page
Just to let you know that the ip address 62.3.253.156 is actually batley grammar schools ip address and that the people who wrote attacking things about members of staff have been dealt with. Please don't block the ip address from editing though. (pupils and ex pupils find it funny to edit the page and we all thank people like you who pick up on these things) :-) cheers philb 10:01, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Yeah... I'm sorry...

[edit] your bot's a little late :)
Your bot just left me a message ([1]) after I made [comments on the AfD] and numerous edits to the article in question. Is there a way for your bot to give immediate notification of an AfD? --Ed ¿Cómo estás? 16:18, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] The AfD warning bot
Am I right in assuming that the bot will still notify an article creator if the nominator has warned them but not by using one of the templates? Not that it's a huge point anyway, but certainly most of my recent AfDs have been contested Prods, so I find it easier to add a comment under the section where the user's been notified of the Prod telling them that the concerns haven't been addressed as appropriate, so as I understand the bot's operation these users would still get notified by it as well. [edit] AFD bot - opting out should be a possibility
Articles I created that I'm interested in are on my watchlist. Instead, I keep getting (well, twice now ;)) informed of AFDs on crappy articles I moved or edited purely as an admin or mop wielder. No doubt other janitors will have the same experience. Without wishing to negate the usefulness of your bot, might I request that you have an opt-out list (and put me on it)? --kingboyk 20:03, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
- Just in case you didn't watchlist my talk page: thanks for the reply. I think your bot is probably very useful to newbies and so on, so thanks for that, it's just that I don't wanna start getting deluged with messages about low quality pages I touched as an admin :) Thanks for your understanding and prompt action on this, and indeed for the tip. Cheers. --kingboyk 19:23, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- I was gonna suggest using a protected (?) wiki page as the opt-out list, btw. It seems you don't have the sysop bit so I'm not sure how practical that would be. --kingboyk 21:03, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AFD bot
Hello Jayden, Thanks for creating the AFD notification bot. Is it possible to scan the talk page for project tags and notify the project about the deletion too? For example, if the talk page has a {{WP India}} template, update the deletion sorting page with {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Article name}} if does not exist already. This way even if the original author is not available, other project members can act on the deletion. There might be WP:OWN concerns, but I think this is very similar to notifying the original author. The project has a responsibility of the articles in its scope. The project members can help with any questions related to the deletion. Currently the deletion sorting page is manually updated. Please comment. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 19:31, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Hello, Jayden54. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Mgm AFD Organizer startup-bug.PNG) was found at the following location: User talk:Jayden54/AFDOrg/Bugs. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 06:32, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Jailhouse rock.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:51, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I am interested in discussing the deletion of our organization. Your name was one of the ones listed as part of the discussion. Our organization, WritersUA, is part of the technical writing community and provides a unique and valuable service that transcends the for-profit elements of our business. Our web site is highly regarded within our community and we can provide references from numerous notable people within our profession. In addition to a wealth of original content, we offer industry surveys on skills and salaries and provide a resource directory that is much valued by our constituency. All of that is free to the public and provided without vendor advertising. Our single for-profit event is a conference that has been held for fifteen years. In that time it has attracted over 8,000 people from around the world and is one of the very few gatherings of people specifically interested in improving software documentation. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this with you at your convenience. Thank you, Joe Welinske President, WritersUA Resource Directory: http://www.writersua.com/resource.htm 2007 Salary Survey: http://www.writersua.com/surveys/salary07/index.html 2007 Skills Survey: http://www.writersua.com/surveys/skillstech06/index.html

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:OC-210.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:OC-210.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 00:53, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Lockdownproject.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Lockdownproject.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 13:45, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
