[edit] Playing career
Prior to turning professional, Krog spent four seasons at the University of New Hampshire, notching 238 points (94 goals, 144 assists) in 152 games from 1995-99. Krog, selected as the 1999 winner of the Hobey Baker Award as college hockey’s MVP, was signed as a free agent by the New York Islanders on March 1, 2001, and by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks on July 17, 2002.
Krog spent the 2004-05 season with VSV EC of the Austrian League, tallying 60 points (27 goals, 33 assists) in 48 games. The native of Fernie, B.C., has registered 170 points (62 goals, 108 assists) in 179 AHL games from 1999-2003.
Krog began the 2005-06 season with Genève-Servette HC of Switzerland's Nationalliga A, recording 28 points (14 goals, 14 assists) in 29 games before joining Frölunda Indians of the Swedish Elite League, where he registered six points (five goals, one assist) in seven games. He led Servette Geneve with 15 goals and placed second on the club in scoring despite playing in only 29 of their 44 games. He added five goals and three assists for eight points in 17 playoff games with Frölunda.
Krog, has earned 52 points (18 goals, 34 assists) in 175 NHL games with the New York Islanders and Anaheim. The 5-11, 190-pound center recorded career highs with 10 goals, 15 assists and 25 points with the Mighty Ducks in 2002-03 and helped lead the club to the Stanley Cup Finals, notching four points (three goals, one assist) in 21 playoff games.
On January 12, 2007, the New York Rangers acquired Krog from the Atlanta Thrashers, claiming him off waivers[1]. He was reclaimed by Atlanta on February 26, 2007[2].
After failing to make the Thrashers' team at the start of the 2007-08 NHL Season, Krog was sent down to their minor league affiliate, the Chicago Wolves. Fortunately, this would give Krog a chance to re-energize his career. He would lead the league in goals, assists, and points, helping the Wolves win their divisional title. For this, he was named the winner of the Les Cunningham Award as league MVP. In the playoffs, he would again lead the league in scoring, as he lead the Chicago Wolves to their first Calder Cup since 2002, winning himself the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy as playoff MVP.
