Jarnac is a commune in the French département of Charente.
It was the site of the myth of the legendary strike , in a judicial duel, Le Coup de Jarnac, on the July 10, 1547, beetween Guy I Chabot de Jarnac and Francois de Vivonne de la Châtaigneraie, and the Battle of Jarnac in 1569.
