[edit] History

Jalios is a spin-off company founded in 2001 from the INRIA and Groupe Bull joint venture Dyade.[1]

JCMS has its origin in the INRIA project Pharos, which developed a collaborative infrastructure for web knowledge sharing.

Since 2001, Jalios markets its solution in France and Benelux through its own sales, services and support organizations, as well as via its partner network of resellers, system integrators and application developers.

Several companies from the CAC 40 and European companies currently use Jalios JCMS to manage their content.[2][3]

[edit] Architecture

JCMS is developed using servlets and JavaServer Pages, it can be run on the most common Java application servers (IBM WebSphere, BEA Weblogic, Apache Tomcat, JBoss, …).

For its storage system, instead of relying solely on the common three tier architecture using an external relational database, JCMS comes with an embedded XML storage system, JStore. This framework provides fast development process for JCMS integrators as well as additional native features such as versionning or database replication.

Since the 5.7 release, JCMS is easily extensible through plugin development. The Jalios developers community is already providing plugins in a wide range of applications using various licenses from proprietary license to LGPL. Plugins are available on the Jalios developer community website JaliosXPerience
