[edit] Titles
This article has way too many titles for such small... text things. Like the title-text ratio is completely out of whack. I think more information needs to be added, or combine different sections. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bonzai273 (talk • contribs) 14:32, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
I think admin could be divided and merged with the respective grade levels, eg. put all the high school admin in the High School section. Thoughts?
Actually, yeah, I think it needs to be done. The sections are extremely small after I removed the repeated "Admin" info. Also, "Campus" seems unnecessary, and probably could be just added to the school section sections. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bonzai273 (talk • contribs) 14:46, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
I cleaned up the titles and added subtitles for mission and philosophy (Jk123 2099 (talk) 07:49, 30 May 2008 (UTC))
- Thanks, it's looking a lot better. I still think that "campus" should be merged into the appropriate grade-level sections, i.e. put high school information into the high school section. It's just too small to stand alone in my opinion. - Bonzai273 (talk) 14:31, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Then add the info as this is a Wiki (Jk123 2099 (talk) 03:06, 3 June 2008 (UTC))
- What other information should be added? Area measurements could be added, but specific things like buildings should be under the facility information for the specific school sections, in my opinion. - Bonzai273 (talk) 07:03, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
edits take time and mine was wasted. Please check your email at school. I think we should talk (Jk123 2099 (talk) 08:25, 3 June 2008 (UTC))
[edit] Notable alumni?
What notable people are alumni of the Jakarta International School? RahadyanS 17:21, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
Atika Shubert, CNN news anchor, is class of 1991 202.51.16.254 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.51.16.254 (talk) 03:46, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
If u know of famous Alumni, then please update, Thanks (Jk123 2099 (talk) 03:48, 30 May 2008 (UTC))
[edit] Citations
There is so far only one reference, and the article is over 1,500 words. Also many facts are stated, such as the number of computers. Some sort of citation is a must, otherwise this information could be purely opinion-based. Even if the citation is just "[name of admin], [role of admin]", as that is of course a reliable source. - Bonzai273 (talk) 14:36, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Added admin name for quote for number of computers. (Jk123 2099 (talk) 03:00, 3 June 2008 (UTC))
- Good, I think the information is now justified with satisfactory citations - Bonzai273 (talk) 06:25, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Neutrality
I worked on getting rid of some of the bias, and generally made it more neutral. I also shifted some information into history.
This article is verging on an advertisement with its extremely biased attitude. It is making it very unencyclopedic, questioning the reliability of the information presented. Particularly the "mission" and "philosophy" sections; they must be written in a way that displays JIS' philosophies whilst maintaining a neutral point of view. If this cannot be done, it is best that they are removed. - Bonzai273 (talk) 14:27, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
The mission and philosophy are from JIS and are used on all of their sites www.jisedu.org. How to edit? This is the actual factual information from the school (Jk123 2099 (talk) 02:58, 3 June 2008 (UTC))
- I do not question the truth of the information presented, but I feel that the style of writing is not suitable for an encyclopedia. As I mentioned in the talk page, opinionated, even qualitative words - such as "well-balanced" - should be avoided. I think it may be necessary to shorten all the mission/philosophy writings into one section. Having it spread from the introduction, to each of the specific schools, is too much. One example of a well-written article is Baltimore City College, which has an FA rating because of its quality of writing. Read through one of the sections, and see how it remains neutral whilst still giving a good view on the college. They actually don't have any section which displays the mission/philosophy of the school, which makes me wonder whether the section is worthwhile. However, I won't delete until a consensus is reached - Bonzai273 (talk) 06:59, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Then do not abuse the wiki, update the information. (Jk123 2099 (talk) 08:33, 3 June 2008 (UTC))
[edit] Ed
What is an "Ed" - the degree type mentioned in the faculty and students section? - Bonzai273 (talk) 06:44, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
master in education (Jk123 2099 (talk) 08:27, 3 June 2008 (UTC))
[edit] Absolutely Unnecessary
There is no reason to delete the whole article. You could have simply posted here regarding the issue, i.e. "I'm going to delete this page in 24 hours if this isn't fixed." But no Sarah, you rushed ahead, effectively assumed us to all be criminals, and deleted something many people have spent a long time working on. Can you please revert it, and then we'll all quickly fix it up? It's just such a waste of my time if all my effort on this page trashed. - Bonzai273 (talk) 07:20, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
- You must be joking. Of course it's necessary to delete text that isn't GFDL. It's called selective deletion. What we do is delete the page and then restore the clean versions. If you would allow me to do this instead of calling me away by reverting and arguing and so forth it would go a hell of a lot quicker. Sarah 07:25, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
- Once again, very sorry. I don't really know these sides of wikipedia, as I am still a somewhat new user, and I thought you were just going to leave the article as it currently is. I'll let you go ahead with that admin stuff that you do, thanks for the help. I'll try watch over the article in the future to prevent a third occurrence. - Bonzai273 (talk) 07:29, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Why delete work when I am an employee of JIS that is authorized to publish this data. Sarah I sent an email to you. I was working hard to update the page and get it right. Now my work is gone, and I feel this is unfair (Jk123 2099 (talk) 08:20, 3 June 2008 (UTC))
[edit] Copyright vios
The current version of this article was loaded with copyright vios, so I've deleted it and I've just temporarily restored a clean version of this article. I'm going to restore a lot more but it's going to take a while to sort out the clean versions because copyright vios have been inserted all through the history. I also note that this is the second time that this article has had to be deleted due to copyight issues. Sarah 07:23, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Sarah how can I be in violation of copyright when I posted information that is produced by my office and by my peers at JIS (Jk123 2099 (talk) 08:14, 3 June 2008 (UTC))?
[edit] WPSchools rating
Please stop changing the WPSchools rating to GA. Articles must go through a nomination and review process at WP:GAN in order to be granted Good Article status. Because the article lacks references, it should be rated as Start. I am uncertain of the article importance and will leave it at Mid for now due to the unsourced statement "largest private international school in Jakarta." Thanks, --Jh12 (talk) 08:07, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Hi we are the largest school. Was about to add citation until page got ripped off!!! (Jk123 2099 (talk) 08:36, 3 June 2008 (UTC))
[edit] Article progress
Although I am in favor and appreciate the removal of copyright violations/GFDL issues in this article, please remember that we're also trying to improve it. It's been my experience that school articles need time to develop, especially when issues regarding Wikipedia guidelines and procedures are still being worked out. In that light, it seems a little hasty to remove alumni less than 48 hours after requests for citations are made. Also, please refrain from subtle, snide remarks in the edit summaries. Many thanks, --Jh12 (talk) 18:53, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
