Jeffrey Todd "J.T." Hellstrom is a fictional character on the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless, played by actor Thad Luckinbill since 1999.

J.T. was an apprentice detective working for private investigator Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) and until recently was dating Colleen Carlton (first played by Lyndsy Fonseca; later Adrianne Leon; now Tammin Sursok). He is now married to Colleen's former stepmother, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle).
In high school, J.T. was friends with Billy Abbott (then played by David Tom, later Ryan Brown and Scott Seymour), Raul Guittierez (David Lago), Mackenzie Browning (then Ashley Bashioum, later Kelly Kruger and Rachel Kimsey) and Rianna Miner (then Rianna Loving, later Alexis Thorpe). At the time he was dating Brittany Hodges (then played by Vanessa Lee Evigan) and had a reputation as a ladies' man. When Brittany dumped J.T. for wealthy Jabot heir Billy, he rebounded onto Rianna, who he treated poorly. They broke up shortly after.
J.T. soon began a relationship with new-in-town Colleen Carlton. Colleen was heartbroken when J.T. had a one night stand with Brittany's mother, Anita (Mitzi Kapture-Donahue), but they eventually reconciled. When Colleen felt she was getting in the way of J.T.'s budding music career, she left Genoa City and a heartbroken J.T.
J.T. took up with Mackenzie, but when Colleen returned to town and complicated matters, a broken-hearted Mac left town. After a one-night stand with Victoria Newman, J.T. reconciled with Colleen. He recently broke up with Colleen because of her affair with Adrian Korbel (Eyal Podell). Nevertheless, he still harbors affection toward Colleen and recently has been investigating her disappearance, including breaking into Korbel's apartment where he found one of Colleen's earrings. J.T. and Korbel saved Colleen from a fire, which they thought was started by Kevin Fisher, who previously tried to kill Colleen. They refused to believe Kevin when he said the fire was actually started by Jana, his ex-girlfriend, who set him up. Colleen was put on a respirator due to her oxygen level, and J.T. sat with her many times, admitting to her how much he loved her and how he would never stop.
He became engaged to Victoria Newman (Colleen's ex-stepmother) in October 2007. At the time Victoria was expecting a baby that may be either J.T.'s child or the child of her estranged husband (and Colleen's father) Brad Carlton. J.T. assures her that the paternity of Victoria's child would make no difference for him and his plans for their life together. Then, when Victoria was hit by a fallen rock during the clear springs explosion, she was left comatose. The doctors suggested that they do an emergency C-section to save Victoria (leaving the baby's chances slim). Victor wanted to save Victoria and Nikki wanted to save the baby (She promised that was what Victoria would want). J.T. was left frustrated, as he didn't have a say in what happened to his fiance or "his" son. The decision was made after Victoria's condition took a turn for the worse, and she delivered the baby via C-section while still comatose. A paternity test done when blood was removed for medical tests proved that he was the father of Victoria's son. With Victoria still comatose, J.T. decided that their son needed a name. He named the baby "Reed", after Victoria's mother's maiden name, and because a reed is strong and bends with the wind.
Victor hired JT to investigate Nikki's fiance David Chow (Vincent Irizarry). When J.T. inadvertently tipped Nikki off due to the way he was questioning her, Victor fired JT. JT had some unease about the strong role Victor played in the lives of the Newman family, but when Victor offered him a job as head of Newman Enterprises security, JT accepted.
In late January 2008, Victoria woke up and joyously reunited with JT and their newborn son. J.T. and Victoria were married a few days later.
