Josh Griffith is an American soap opera writer and producer. During the 2007-08 Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike, he took over as Head Writer of The Young and the Restless. To do this, he moved to Financial core (FiCore) status with the WGA. Maria Arena Bell, a former writer at The Bold and the Beautiful and daughter-in-law of Y&R's creator William J. Bell, joined him as co-headwriter. During Griifith's first full week as HW, Y&R averaged 5,713,000 million viewers from December 31, 2007 - January 4, 2008, a decrease of 188,000 viewers from the comparable week in 2007. During his tenure as Executive Producer, Y&R reached a record low of 4,491,000 viewers on Friday, May 9, 2008. The previous lows were 4,742,000 on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 and 4,805,000 viewers on Friday, August 31, 2007. (Nielsen Media Research)
