Joseph Farrell MacDonald (6 June 1875 - 2 August 1952) was an American actor and director who played supporting roles and occasional leads, particularly in the films of John Ford. MacDonald appeared as an actor in 327 movies over a forty-year career spanning from 1911 to 1951, including films by Frank Capra and L. Frank Baum, for whose Oz Film Manufacturing Company MacDonald was the principal director.

MacDonald was married until her death in 1943 to actress Edith Bostwick, with whom he had a daughter, Lorna.
