"iWant More Viewers" is the second episode of the television show iCarly. It first aired on Nickelodeon on September 8, 2007.
[edit] Plot
Carly, Sam and Freddie are filming an episode of iCarly, and end the program by playing an on-air prank on Lubert, the particularly nasty doorman at Carly and Freddie's apartment building. It is noted that Lubert has a huge, bulging wart.
Freddie notices that the show got the same number of viewers as last week, and Carly decides they need a way to attract more people to the website. Carly suggests that the four of them (including Spencer) each come up with a way to advertise the website and have a contest on-air to see whose idea is the best. Sam decides she will team up with Carly, since “‘each’ sounds like a lot of work.” Freddie's feelings are hurt, but Spencer agrees to team up with Freddie and seems to be genuinely into the assignment. Freddie decides that there should be a loser's penalty, and they come to the consensus that the losing team will have to touch Lubert's wart (although Spencer unintentionally makes it clear that he wouldn't mind.) Sam goofs off watching television, and turns on Seattle Beat, a popular music show which gets tons of viewers. Carly notices that there are people at the studio windows holding up homemade banners, and decides that they should create a banner advertising iCarly and hold it up against the studio windows. However, when Carly and Sam show up with their banner, it starts raining outside, and the water blurs the message that was printed.
Freddie and Spencer have better luck, and decide to hang a giant, luminescent sign on the side of a major highway. This plan succeeds, although they have a little trouble getting the sign out of the apartment. Carly and Sam host the next installment of iCarly, and admit that they lost (as well as showing the Seattle Beat clip on the television screen.) They then proceed to introduce Freddie and Spencer’s plan, and go live to Spencer who is standing somewhere above the highway. He shows the viewers the sign (which happens to be hanging over a road sign), which reads out "PLEASE GO ONLINE TO ICARLY.COM". However, the sign distracts several drivers, causing a huge accident on the highway and clogging up traffic. In a futile attempt to shut down the sign, Spencer only manages to make most of the letters disappear, changing the message to “P_E__E __ ON____ __ _CARL_____” (“pee on Carl”).
The episode ends, and Carly and her friends check out the viewer's comments, but are interrupted when a policeman brings home Spencer in handcuffs. He decides to let Spencer off with a warning this time, and Spencer apologizes to the officer (who ironically turns out to be named Carl, and very offended by Spencer's vulgar message.) However, all trouble is made worth-while when they find out that their viewers, based on that one episode, are going to spread the word on iCarly. Spencer then decides to take the gang out for pizza, to celebrate that none of them will have to touch Lubert’s wart.
