ISS A/S (Integrated Service Solutions) is a large service company based in Copenhagen, Denmark. While being probably most well known for providing cleaning service, it is today if fully intigrated facility management company with services such as catering, property maintenance, security and reception services. The name ISS has had various meanings over the years and is currently expanded to "Integrated Service Solutions".[5]

In 2005 ISS was bought by a consortium of EQT and Goldman Sachs Capital Partners for 30 billion DKK. The company was delisted from the Copenhagen Stock Exchange[6].

ISS traces its roots back to Kjøbenhavn-Frederiksberg Nattevagt, a minor Copenhagen night watch company founded in 1901. This was turned into De forenede Vagtselskaber in 1918; in 1934, a cleaning company, Det Danske Rengøringsselskab (DDRS) was spawned from the security company.

Yet another company, International Sanitary Systems (ISS), was established in 1968. This changed its name to International Service System in 1973, simultaneously becoming the parent company for its international acquisitions.

In 2007, after ten years of absence following an accounting scandal, ISS reentered the United States through the acquisition of San Antonio based Sanitors, Inc.

ISS presently employs more than 440,000 people in 50 countries worldwide, in all areas of facility management.

The cleaning business started out as a sub service in 1934. The primary service was security guarding which was provided as a person on location. Instead of just watching the building the "guard" was also cleaning the building. In this way two services was offered at the same time with only one employee.
