Isonyin

Isonyin is a small town in Ogun State, Nigeria located about 8 kilometers from Ijebu Ode. Its inhabitants speak the Ijebu dialect of the Yoruba language. The king, Oba Funso Omo-Ogunkoya is known as the Saderiren of Isonyin.
Prominent Nigerian playwright and artiste, Hubert Ogunde, now deceased hailed from Isonyin. He was best known for electrifying Yoruba plays characterized for instance by occurrence of rain and thunderstorm on the stage. Two of his best known plays were titled "Aye"(the world) and "Jayesimi"(let the world rest).
