The Literal translation of the word Ismail is like "Heard by Allah or God has heard", referring to the fact that he was a child very-sought-after by Ibrahim and his wife princess Sa'ra (Her mother Hadjera/Hagar was the handmaid of the princess) and through Ismai'l the fountain Zamzam(? check spelling)gave birth to the city of Mecca, Al-baladil Ameen(?). Moreover, Muhammad^{(Sallu wa Taslim)} is a descendant of Ismai'l^{(Alaihissalam)}, which fuliflled the divine promise by Allah to himself to send Muhammad as the final and global messenger with Q'urAn.
