This article uses only the Penguin translation, not the French original. It does not give the cast list or a historical account of the first performances. There is also a french WP article which should be used as the basis for the article, in line with wikiproject France. It is unencyclopedic to describe Racine as a French playwright. The play inspired various operas, notably by Gluck. I intend to rewrite a shorter version of the plot with a proper lead section. I have now carefully rewritten the synopsis, using both the french original and the penguin translation, and expanded the article in other ways, as for Phèdre. --Mathsci (talk) 01:06, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
