[edit] Mileage Classification of I-695

  • [1] 30.57 miles as I-695 (2.20 mi are "Sections 103(c)(4)(A) & ISTEA")
  • [2] 30.57 miles (2.92 Anne Arundel, 27.65 Baltimore County) as I-695 plus 1.52 miles as I-83 and I-695, 19.37 miles (13.66 Baltimore County, 3.23 Baltimore City, 2.48 Anne Arundel) as MD 695 - total 51.46 miles
  • [3] confirms most of the above; the north end is at the eastbound merge from I-95 north and the south end is at the westbound exit for I-97 south and eastbound merge from I-97 north; toll maintenance is in Anne Arundel from mile 0 to mile 0.76 (the bridge over MD 10 north), all of Baltimore City, and Baltimore County from mile 9.24 (the north end of the railroad bridge just south of exit 42) to mile 13.66 - this makes a total of 8.41 miles - all MD 695 - maintained by the MTA
  • 1989 AASHTO log lists both crossings on US 40 as I-695
  • [4] has an MD 695 shield from April 1978

The map in [6] has the whole Beltway marked with an Interstate shield. Google maps has the same marking.[7] Are any parts still considered MD-695 (and if so, are they only MD or are they dual-signed as true I)? DMacks (talk) 05:20, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Taking it to Talk:Francis Scott Key Bridge (Baltimore), where some more specific and recent discussion existed. DMacks (talk) 05:47, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
A call to the MdTA has confirmed that the key bridge (and therefore the whole southeast quadrant from 95-75) is NOT interstate grade and is signed MD 695. (Vwlou89 (talk) 17:30, 12 June 2008 (UTC))
Well, it's not signed MD 695, but it is officially labeled as such between I-97 and I-95, and has never been added to the Interstate system. --NE2 17:47, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Mathematical Interest

I'm not sure if this should be added, but mathematician Dror Bar-Natan has an interesting page [8] on the northern I-695/I-95 intersection. Ttwaring 19:58, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Control Cities

We should add control cities to this page, but I'm not HTML-smart enough to do it, I'll contribute to it after it is made. TechMath 17:16, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
