Interstate 895 was a planned 6.4-mile-long Interstate Highway in New Jersey that would have provided a freeway between Interstate 295 near Burlington and Interstate 95 near Bristol, Pennsylvania. This would have completed the partial beltway around Trenton formed by I-95 and I-295. The roadway would also have provided additional capacity crossing the Delaware River near the site of the Burlington-Bristol Bridge. The new crossing was intended to be toll free, but likely would have still been maintained by a Private Company, much like the Scudders Falls Bridge (Interstate 95). The approach roadways on either side of the river would likely have been maintained by their respective DOT's.[citation needed]

The proposed six lane freeway was meant to have two mainline interchanges (U.S. Route 13 & U.S. Route 130), and the terminus interchanges with I-95 & I-295 at a new Exit 46. Giving the freeway four total interchanges from start to finish. Once the freeway met I-295, there were plans to extend it as the Route 72 freeway towards Long Beach Island where it would meet the existing Route 72 at Route 70.

Vestiges of the I-895 proposal remain today. The large interchange between Interstate 95 and PA 413 was built to handle the large high speed ramps for I-895.[citation needed]
