In anatomy, internal rotation (also known as medial rotation) is rotation towards the center of the body.

The muscles of internal rotation include:

• of arm/humerus at shoulder^[1]
  • Deltoid muscle
  • Subscapularis
  • Teres major
  • Latissimus dorsi
  • Pectoralis major
  • Biceps Brachii

• of thigh/femur at hip^[2]
  • Tensor fasciae latae
  • Gluteus medius

• of leg at knee^[3]
  • Popliteus
  • Semimembranosus
  • Semitendinosus

• of eyeball (motion is also called "intorsion")^[4]
  • Superior rectus muscle
  • Superior oblique muscle
