Insomniac Games is an independent US video game developer founded in 1994 that has released award-winning hits for PlayStation and PlayStation 2 for 13 years. They created the first three Spyro the Dragon games, Disruptor, and the Ratchet & Clank franchise, which have combined to sell over 25 million copies worldwide and have won dozens of awards. Insomniac released Resistance: Fall of Man in 2006, a first-person shooter and PlayStation 3 launch title. Insomniac has finished production on Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction and has started work on a sequel to Resistance, with both being PlayStation 3 exclusives.
Resistance 2 (working title) is a science fiction themed first person shooter video game for the PlayStation 3. The game is a sequel to the 2006 PlayStation 3 launch title Resistance: Fall of Man, and is currently in development by Insomniac Games, and will continue to be published by Sony Computer Entertainment America. The game is at the moment scheduled for a release in the Fall of 2008. In a recent corporate music video entitled (pin)Ballz posted on GameTrailers by Insomniac, the message "0708" briefly shows up on a computer screen; this has led to speculation that it corresponds to an event to take place in July 2008. According to the marketing boss of Sony Computer Entertainment, Scott Steinberg, the game will have to be put onto a 50 GB Blu-ray Disc.
The currently confirmed features of the game include the Single player story campaign, a co-op story campaign with 2 players offline and up to 8 players online, the co-op campaign will also feature multiple classes such as medic, heavy etc. as well as up to sixty player online multiplayer, this continues Resistance: Fall of Man's high online multiplayer cap.
The main story is to be set several years after the original game, the main protagonist Nathan Hale arrives at SRPA in Iceland, SRPA is a facility which deals with humans who like Hale are resistant to the chimera virus. The result is a task force called 'The Sentinels'. The base then comes under attack by Chimera forces and 'The Sentinels' manage to escape to the United States.
Captain Qwark is a major recurring character in the Ratchet & Clank video game series. He wears green tights with a blue stripe down the middle and a blue and black atom with a lightning bolt that vaguely resembles the letter Q. He also wears a yellow belt on his waist and has an antenna on his head. Qwark's role was initially a self-serving enemy of Ratchet and Clank, but has become less antagonistic in the later games.
His appearance suggests a possible homage to the original costume of Captain Marvel from Marvel Comics. The green color scheme, shape of the face mask and chest insignia all boast similarities, not to mention that both characters originate as space-faring heroes.
He is voiced by Jim Ward.
