Predominately made up of the northern and eastern suburbs of Indianapolis, the residents of the district are largely white, very affluent, well-educated, and heavily Republican.[1]
Before the 2000 census, the 5th District was located it what is now parts of the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Districts.
