The Fourth Congressional District of Indiana was created in its current form after the 2000 United States census.
[edit] Geography
It consists of the counties of Boone, Clinton, Hendricks, Lawrence, Montgomery, Tippecanoe, and parts of Fountain, Johnson, Marion, Monroe and White counties.
Prior to the 2000 census, most of the territory currently in the 4th was located in the 5th District; the old 4th was the Fort Wayne district, which is now the 3rd District.
[edit] Representation
The current representative of the district is Steve Buyer who defeated David Sanders in the 2004 and 2006 elections. Buyer has been a U.S. Representative since 1993. Nels Ackerson will oppose Buyer in the November 2008 general election.
