The India national cricket team toured Australia in the 1977-78 season to play 5 Test matches. Australia won the test series 3-2.

• 1st Test at Brisbane Cricket Ground – Australia won by 16 runs
• 2nd Test at WACA Ground – Australia won by 2 wickets
• 3rd Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground – India won by 222 runs
• 4th Test at Sydney Cricket Ground – India won by an innings and 2 runs
• 5th Test at Adelaide Oval – Australia won by 47 runs
