I have had many discussions in the past as to who are superpowers in the world and who isn't. So i have decided to create this page on an easy way of understanding current superpowers in the world. I am going to explain it in a fun sort of story way ;) An easy way of explaining current superpowers, is by pretending the world is a school playground lol.

[edit] Past

Now the School big-man and bully (aka superpower) is America. America is in charge of the playground, he has the most power and influences every kid in the playground (aka UN). America has a gang, who help him rule the playground. In America's gang are his friends Britain, Germany, Canada ect. His gang are called NATO. Now currently NATO control the playground. No-one wants to start a fight (aka war) on NATO, because their leader America is really big (aka superpower).

America and NATO have rivals. The USSR (another superpower) and the Warsaw pact (USSR's gang). Anyway after a while of America and the USSR showing off and trying to prove how powerful they both are, USSR's gang member from the Warsaw pact (Poland, Romania, ect) turn on the USSR and join Americas gang NATO. From now the USSR looses his reputation as been a school big guy and bully (no longer a superpower). USSR goes away changes and gets a new haircut and comes back to the playground (becomes Russia). Russia still doesn't like NATO and is mad that his old gang members have joined his rivals gang. Russia is determined to show that he can still be big and powerful, even though its USSR days are over.

Some of Americas friends who are in the gang NATO are also in another gang called the EU. This gang helps Americas friends get big on their own. So in the EU, Americas friends can be big without America. However the EU are happy to work with America and NATO still. America is not that bothered, because they are still his friends and most of them are in his gang NATO anyway and at the end of the day America knows he is still the biggest kid in the playground. So hes happy (because hes a superpower).

NATO like to get in fights and bully kids, to show how big and powerful they are. NATO's current victims who get bullied are little Iraq and Afghanistan, who are no match for America and his gang NATO. So America and NATO steal Iraq's and Afghanistan's lunch money (aka oil).

Any one day, a new kid come to the playground. Hes really big and powerful too. His name is China. Hes starts to bully some kids too and makes some friends (North Korea and Vietnam). Russia has also started to bully kids once again. He is bullying Georgia.

America and his gang NATO notice this new kid China. They see that he is really big and pretty powerful. They don't worry about China at first because America and NATO have the reputation of been the big guys and because of what happened over the USSR and the Warsaw pact. So they don't think much of this China as they believe that it will just be the same as what happened to USSR. America believes that he is the only school big guy and bully (superpower) and that China is no match for America.

There is this other rather big kid too in the playground, his name is India. India and China don't like each other much, but they get along because they do a lot of swapping and sharing (economy). Russia has also started to do a lot of swapping and sharing too, as he has lots to swap (natural resources in Siberia). So Russia, China and India have started to do a lot of swapping and sharing and are becoming bigger and more powerful.

Also at the same time, EU are starting to get bigger too. They also do lots of swapping and sharing, so this is really getting them bigger too. America does lots of Swapping and Sharing also.

So Russia, China, India, EU and America are all getting bigger. But America believes still that he is the biggest kid (superpower), however he is keeping his eye on India, Russia and especially China. However he keeps telling himself and NATO that he is the playgrounds only big kid (world superpower) and he honestly believes this.

Russia, India and China are starting to think, what can America do that we can't. As they have become really big by now too. All the other kids in the playground (UN) are no match for Russia, China and India, except America and the combined EU.

America is starting to worry about these other kids. He worries that these other kids could challenge Americas position as been the schools biggest bully. America sees China as the bigger threat of the three. So doesn't want to get in a fight (have war) encase he loses. China has really caught up to America by now and is at the point where its a stalemate.

So at the end of the day, America and NATO decide to team up with Russia, India and China and dominate the playground (world) together.  ;)

[edit] Conclusion

That Ladies and Gentlemen is how it goes. Nothing stays powerful forever. Everything comes to an end, Nazi Germany, Soviet Union, British Empire ect. When is it going to be the USA's turn? Not for ages yet, but it will team up with other countries to ensure its survival in the long term.
