Ichihara (市原市 Ichihara-shi?) is a city located in Chiba, Japan.
As of April 2006, the city has an estimated population of 280,178[1] and the density of 761 persons per km². The total area is 368.20 km².
The city was founded on May 1, 1963. It was home to JEF United.
The city's economy is fueled by a large industrial complex overlooking Tokyo Bay. It contains several major oil refineries, power companies, and petrochemical companies[1].
Ichihara maintains a sister city relationship with Mobile, Alabama, USA.
