It was included on her second album with Sony/Epic Records, When Fallen Angels Fly, her seventh career album. The single was released in July 1994. It was the first single released from the album.

According to Loveless: "... My first reaction was that I wasn't for sure that this song was for me because it had a lot more male-oriented type lyrics in it. Rather than the high heels or hairdos, it was more boxing and football and those kind of things. I just didn't think they would believe me when I was talking about sports, so we had Gary Burr change some of the lyrics and it ended up being a little bit better for me. So, when we went into the studio and started having fun with it, and the way the record turned out, I couldn't help but like the tune after it was finished...."[citation needed]
The song charted for 20 weeks on the Billboard Hot Country Singles and Tracks chart, reaching #3 during the week of 22 October 1994.
