[edit] Relevance to human speech?

Not being an expert on the subject myself, I'd be much obliged if someone could add an explanation as to why the hypoglossal canal has been used in the past as a benchmark to determine speech capability in hominids.--Julian Grybowski 13:52, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
