Husan (Arabic: حوسان) is a Palestinian town located north of the Gush Etzion Regional Council, nine kilometers west of the city of Bethlehem in the Bethlehem Governorate. According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), the town had a population of approximately 5,700 in mid-year 2006.[1]
In 1978 Husan had a total land area of 7,134 dunams, however with the building of the Betar Illit settlement and an Israeli "reserved area" the town has been downsized to 1,425 dunams.[2] The oldest remains found in the village date back to the Iron Age. Other remains date from the post-Babylonian Exile Period, and the Middle Ages.[3]
